3rd Stamp Issue 2021 on 6 September 2021

50 Years of the First E-mail

Commissioned to set up a data transmission system for the United States Department of Defence, Ray Tomlinson discovered a way to send a file from one computer to another in 1971 and thus created the idea of the e-mail. In the meantime, e-mails have become an indispensable means of communication and the special character @, which is required in the electronic address, has a permanent place on every keyboard. The at symbol also has a place on the special stamp "50 years of the first e-mail" (face value: CHF 1.00).

700th Anniversary of the Death of Dante Alighieri

An artistically designed souvenir sheet with two stamps commemorates the 700th anniversary of the death of the Italian writer Dante Alighieri (1265-1321). Designer Thomas Giger created pen and ink drawings for the issue, the characteristics of which are particularly accentuated in the steel engraving. In addition to the special stamps "Portrait of Dante Alighieri" (face value: CHF 3.70) and "Writing Hand with Quill" (face value: CHF 4.00), the image on the souvenir sheet is based on a scene from Dante's main work Divina Commedia (The Divine Comedy).

Joint Issue Ukraine-Liechtenstein "Eugen Zotow"

Artist Eugen Zotow (born Ivan Miassojedoff in 1881), who is well-known in Liechtenstein, originally came from the city of Kharkiv in today's Ukraine, which belonged to the Soviet Union until 1991. The political situation in his homeland caused him to leave it and so his path led him into exile in Liechtenstein in 1938. Here he lived from his art and created numerous works, including twelve stamps, until his death in 1953. Now two special stamps are being dedicated to Eugen Zotow as part of a joint issue with Ukraine: "View of Vaduz Castle" (face value: CHF 1.40) and "Self-portrait" (face value: CHF 2.20).

100 Years of the Constitution of the Principality of Liechtenstein

"Freedom" (face value: CHF 0.85), "Peace" (face value: CHF 1.00) and "Democracy" (face value: CHF 1.50) are the three special stamps issued by Philately Liechtenstein to mark the 100th anniversary of the Constitution of the Principality of Liechtenstein. In high-quality metallic printing and foil stamping, they have a modern and forward-looking design, but also build a bridge to the past as they show an excerpt from the original edition of the Constitution of 1921.

Stamp 4.0: Blockchain Technology from the Principality of Liechtenstein

Philately Liechtenstein is breaking new ground with Stamp 4.0. For the first time, an SQR code has been integrated on the special stamp "Perspective" (face value: CHF 5.20), which directs users to a website. There they can find out more about the history of the stamp, the serial number and the designer. With the accompanying app (AndroidTM), the stamp can also be checked to see whether it is genuine. Through this check, the stamps are uniquely assigned to their owners and deposited in a personal data room (blockchain technology). This makes Stamp 4.0 forgery-proof, interactive and exciting.

The new stamps are available from 6 September 2021. www.philatelie.li/en
