4th Stamp Issue 2021 of Philately Liechtenstein on 15 November 2021

50 Years of the Liechtenstein Chess Federation

Liechtenstein’s Chess Federation has celebrated its 50th anniversary on 5 July 2021. It is home to the two chess clubs Vaduz and Triesen and has been a member of the Liechtenstein Olympic Committee (LOC) since June 2011. One year before its big anniversary, the federation decided to change its name and since then has been known as the Liechtenstein Chess Federation (LCF). At the same time, the federation's logo, which focuses on the figure of the knight, was modernised. The "Knight" (face value: CHF 0.85) also serves as the motif for one of the two special stamps now being issued to mark the federation's 50th anniversary. The second stamp shows the "King" (face value: CHF 1.80).

50 Years of Médecins Sans Frontières

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), sometimes rendered in English as Doctors Without Borders, is a private aid organisation with an international focus. It was founded in Paris in 1971 and consists mostly of doctors and nurses. The staff provide medical aid in more than 70 countries around the world - wherever human lives are threatened. In recognition of its pioneering humanitarian work on several continents, the initiative was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999. Philately Liechtenstein is honouring MSF on the occasion of its 50th anniversary with the special stamp "Worldwide Without Borders" (face value: CHF 3.70).

Christmas Stamps 2021

The traditional Christmas stamps are presented in oriental style this year, which is reflected in the choice of colours and detailing in gold. With her choice of motifs, designer Sereina Hatt establishes a connection to the Christmas story of Christianity. On the stamp "The Guiding Star" (face value: CHF 0.85) the star takes centre stage. "The Shepherd" (face value: CHF 1.00) on the second special stamp is symbolically represented by a sheep. The "Holy Spirit" (face value: CHF 1.50) appears in the form of a dove and a candle represents "The Gifts" (face value: CHF 2.00) that the Three Wise Men offered.

Chinese Signs of the Zodiac – Tiger

The series on Chinese zodiac signs, which has meanwhile become a tradition, is slowly drawing to a close with the penultimate motif "Year of the Tiger" (face value: CHF 2.00). The Chinese horoscope characterises the tiger as courageous, strong and full of energy. People born under its sign are agile, energetic, self-confident and assertive. Like its ten predecessors, this special stamp was also produced in the form of a filigree silhouette.

The new stamps will be available online and in the postal shops in Liechtenstein from 15 November 2021.
