The PREMIO NEXOFIL is awarded in Madrid every year. This international stamp competition, which is organised by the leading Spanish philately magazine "EL ECO", is attended by nations from all over the world that compete for one of the coveted awards in eleven categories. The stamps submitted are judged by a jury of 40 experts from 33 different countries. Philately Liechtenstein was awarded an excellent 3rd place in the category "Best Offset Stamp" behind Norway and Germany for the issue "Artistic Photography: Birds’ Eyes " (cormorant). The stamp shows an impressive photograph of the eye of a cormorant, taken by photographer Sven Beham and typographically designed by Hans Peter Gassner. Stefan Erne, head of Philately Liechtenstein, received the award in person at a gala held in Madrid on 30 October 2019.
