75th Birthday of Prince Hans-Adam II / 80th Birthday of Princess Marie of Liechtenstein
The Princely House of Liechtenstein is celebrating two special anniversaries in 2020: "Princess Marie of Liechtenstein" (face value: CHF 2.00) celebrates her 80th birthday on 14 April and "Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein" (face value: CHF 4.30) celebrates his 75th on 14 February. Philately Liechtenstein is commemorating the birthdays of the princely couple with a souvenir sheet consisting of two stamps with staggered perforation and classy-looking hot-foil embossing in gold.
Limited Special Edition
In addition to the regular issue of the special souvenir sheet "75th Birthday of Prince Hans-Adam II / 80th Birthday of Princess Marie of Liechtenstein", an imperforated special issue limited to 3000 units with a face value is also available. This special issue is printed on real silk and is supplied in a high-quality folder. The special edition costs CHF 75.00.
To ensure that all those ordering this special edition have the same chance at receiving it, all the orders received will be collected until 28 February 2020 and then lots will be drawn for allocating it.
Europa – Messenger Post
This year's Europa stamps, which are issued every year by the member states of the association of European public postal operators (PostEurop), focus on the theme of ancient postal routes. Philately combines its two commemorative stamps "Stagecoach" and "Mounted Messenger" (both with a face value of CHF 1.50), which recall the Lindau Messenger transport service operated in the region until 1826, as a combination print on a miniature sheet of two stamps twice. Designer René Wolfinger made the issue appear nostalgic through steel engraving.
Dragonflies – II
Like in the first part of the series, the photographs for the second and last part of these colourful definitives depicting dragonflies were taken by nature photographer Xaver Roser. He captured these on camera in the Ruggeller Riet nature reserve in Liechtenstein: the "White Featherleg" dragonfly (face value: CHF 0.85), the "Red-veined Darter" (face value: CHF 1.30), the "Scarlet Darter" (face value: CHF 1.80) and the "Spotted Darter" dragonfly (face value: CHF 2.00) adorn the self-adhesive stamps. The latter is an endangered species in Austria and Germany and is classified as "vulnerable" on the Red List in Switzerland.
25 Years' Membership in the EEA
A graphically designed "Network" (face value: CHF 2.20), predominantly in pastel colours, on a commemorative stamp symbolises the 25-year membership of the Principality of Liechtenstein in the European Economic Area (EEA). Designer Hans Peter Gassner used partial UV coating to highlight nine colours of the design – colours found in all the flags of all EEA member states. The EEA unites the 28 members of the European Union and the three EEA/EFTA states Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway in a single market.
The new commemorative and definitive stamps are available as of 2 March 2020. www.philatelie.li
