The Philately is paying tribute to the 70th birthday of Liechtenstein’s head of state, His Serene Highness Prince Hans- Adam II, with a souvenir sheet. Only the colours and the text of this stamp differ to the stamp issued in November 2014 to commemorate the 25th government jubilee of the Prince. The souvenir sheet “70th Birthday of Prince Hans-Adam II”, which was printed in a combination of offset and steel engraving, will appear right on time for the 70th birthday of the Prince Regnant on 14 February 2015 and consists of two special stamps at a value of CHF 1.00 and CHF 2.00 each. Prince Hans-Adam II, who was born as the eldest son of Prince Franz Joseph II of Liechtenstein and Princess Gina in 1945, grew up in Castle Vaduz with his four brothers and sisters. After completing his grammar school education, he started studying Business and Economics at the University of St. Gallen, which he completed in 1969 with the degree of Licentiate. After taking over the affairs of state from his father in 1984 he, in turn, handed these over to his eldest son, Hereditary Prince Alois, after 20 years of governance. Since then, the Prince has increasingly concentrated on managing the assets of the Princely House.
Black print "70th Birthday of Prince Hans-Adam II"
In accordance with the issuing policy of Liechtensteinische Post AG, only stamp series are issued as black prints that are produced in steel engraving/ combination print. After the individual stamp "25th Government Jubilee" was issued in black print last November, the special sheetlet "70th Birthday of Prince Hans-Adam II" will also be issued as an attractive black print.
