For 75 years, the SOS Children's Villages organisation has been
committed to the welfare, education and protection of children. Its
vision is to give every child a secure future. Founded in 1949 by
Hermann Gmeiner from Vorarlberg, the aid organisation is meanwhile
active in 138 countries, and has also been in Liechtenstein for the past
five years. The patron of the organisation in Liechtenstein is H.S.H.
Tatjana von Lattorff, Princess of Liechtenstein.
The
organisation's global work focuses on the protection and family-based
care of children who no longer have a safe home or have no home at all.
These children grow up with four to five other children with an SOS
Children's Village mother. In this environment, they can attend school,
learn a trade and are prepared for independence later on.
In war
and crisis zones, the non-profit organisation also supports families,
children and young people in need with humanitarian aid. In addition,
child protection zones are set up where children can play. With our
special stamp "Children's Laughter" (face value: CHF 1.00), we are
emphasising the need for a secure future for children all over the world
and thus honouring the valuable work of SOS Children's Villages.
