Lay and Rahel Öhri-Malin – draws on the musical heritage from Pepi Frommelt’s collection and uses it to develop modern arrangements with a distinctive sound. The group released their debut album “Liader us der Oberteli” in 2023. Since then, “The Peps” have been performing live regularly in the region, helping to make Liechtenstein folk music accessible to a new audience.
Pepi Frommelt was a pioneer in the study of Liechtenstein folk music. He left behind an extensive collection of traditional compositions dating back as far as 1830. The Pepi Frommelt Foundation has set itself the goal of digitising this archive in the form of an interactive database. This will make Liechtenstein’s cultural heritage accessible to interested musicians and breathe new life into it.

Pepi Frommelt (1935–2019) was a musician, music teacher, conductor and composer, as well as a leading figure in the Liechtenstein music scene. As the long-standing director of the Liechtenstein Music School and the founder of the International Masterclasses in Vaduz, he was deeply committed to promoting musical education.
