100 Years of the Liechtenstein Persons and Companies Act
With the issue “100 Years of the Liechtenstein Persons and Companies Act,” Philately Liechtenstein pays tribute to a body of law that has had a lasting impact on the country’s economic and social development. The Law of Persons and Companies, which came into force on February 19, 1926, laid the foundation for modern corporate structures and played a key role in establishing Liechtenstein’s international standing as a business and financial center.
The special stamp “Code of Laws” (face value CHF 1.20) commemorates the historical foundation of the Persons and Companies Act. The law consolidated numerous corporate law regulations into a comprehensive code and is still regarded today as a milestone in Liechtenstein’s legal history.
The Act was completed after nearly four years of work by “Emil Beck” (face value CHF 1.90) and “Wilhelm Beck” (face value CHF 2.50) and submitted to the Parliament of the Principality of Liechtenstein. The Parliament passed the law on November 5, 1925, largely unchanged.
In retrospect, this concept—combined with a liberal tax code—has proven entirely successful and has brought employment and prosperity to Liechtenstein. However, some of the legal institutions introduced by the Act have not gained widespread use; in practice, the focus has quickly shifted to five forms of corporate law (corporation, institution, foundation, trusteeship, and trust company).
Photographs – Old Portraits of Personalities
With the “Photographs – Old Portraits of Personalities” issue, Philately Liechtenstein turns its attention to historical photographs of prominent Liechtenstein figures. These special stamps combine contemporary history, cultural memory, and photographic documentation into a striking testament to past ways of life.
The special stamp “Fridolin Tschugmell” (face value CHF 1.90) features a photograph of the well-known Liechtenstein pastor, historian, teacher, and cultural educator. His work was closely linked to the research and preservation of Liechtenstein’s history. The image shows Pastor Tschugmell in 1936 with workers during the construction of the bell frame at St. Theresa’s Church in Schaanwald.
The second special stamp, “Anton Frommelt” (face value CHF 2.50), is dedicated to the priest, politician, artist, and photographer Anton Frommelt. The image used dates from his time as pastor of Triesen in the 1920s and depicts a mountain haymaker on Tuass. The photograph exemplifies Frommelt’s photographic and artistic documentation of rural life and provides a striking insight into the daily life and working world of that era.
The issue highlights historical photographs as cultural artifacts and commemorates figures who helped shape and document the intellectual and cultural life of Liechtenstein.
Dance theater
With the “Dance theater” series of permanent stamps, Philately Liechtenstein explores the expressive power of dance as a fusion of movement, art, and emotion. The four designs capture different moods and forms of contemporary dance, illustrating how the body, music, and space engage in dialogue with one another.
The “Rock murmurs” stamp (face value CHF 1.20) explores the connection between movement and nature. Power, rhythm, and grounding merge into a choreography reminiscent of the dynamics of alpine landscapes.
“La Principessa” (face value CHF 1.90) focuses on the poetic and narrative side of dance. Expression, elegance, and vulnerability combine to create a stage character that bridges tradition and contemporary interpretation.
“Barefoot & Brocade” (face value CHF 2.50) plays with contrasts such as closeness and distance, freedom and discipline. Here, dance is experienced as a physical expression of inner emotions and personal stories.
“In Green” (face value CHF 3.10) embodies energy, community, and creative transformation. Movement becomes the visible rhythm of inspiration, encounter, and shared experience.
The series explores central themes of dance: movement as an expression of passion, courage, and creativity, as well as a resonant space for emotions, community, and artistic freedom.
Christmas
With its 2026 Christmas issue, Philately Liechtenstein features designs that evoke memories of winter, togetherness, and festive traditions. The four special-issue stamps combine nature, contemplation, and everyday winter moments into an atmospheric Christmas series.
The “Christmas wreath” stamp (face value CHF 1.00) depicts a classic symbol of the Advent season. Branches, fir greenery, and winter scenery have always stood for hope, constancy, and festive anticipation.
The “Forest cabin” (face value CHF 1.20) captures the quiet and contemplative side of winter. The secluded cabin conveys warmth, comfort, and the tranquility of snow-covered landscapes.
The third special stamp, “Forest Christmas” (face value CHF 1.90), highlights the unique atmosphere of winter nature. Light, snow, and the mood of the forest combine to create an image of peace and festive contemplation.
The “Ice rink” (face value CHF 2.50) evokes shared winter experiences and lively traditions. The motif symbolizes togetherness, joy, and the special moments of the Christmas season in public spaces.
The Christmas issue combines traditional winter motifs with warm, emotional visual language and invites viewers to consciously experience the festive season.
Chinese Signs of the Zodiac – Year of the Goat
With the issue “Chinese Signs of the Zodiac – Year of the Goat,” Philately Liechtenstein continues its long-running series on the Chinese zodiac signs. The special stamp commemorating the Year of the Goat combines Far Eastern symbolism with artistic design while honoring the cultural significance of the Chinese calendar.
The special stamp “Year of the Goat” (face value CHF 2.50) was designed by the renowned Chinese artist Han Meilin. In the Chinese zodiac, the goat is a symbol of harmony, creativity, compassion, and tranquility. People born under this sign are said to possess a keen sense of art, community, and balance.
The issue combines traditional Chinese culture with contemporary design and underscores the international character of Liechtenstein philately.
